While browsing some older submissions on Poal and especially , I have discovered a lot of posts with dead links because some image hoster went down.
I recommend you to store images you share into at least one web archival service.
Optionally, share alternative image links, and maybe reference the source, in the comments.
As far as I know, another possibility is creating an Archive.org account just for media aggregator image/video hosting.
Imgur also seems reliable (as far as I know), and their policy is to delete images uploaded by free users if they were not viewed by anyone within the prior 6 months.
But Imgur apparently has no good reputation on Voat for some reason (there's a bot that mirrors Imgur uploads to “non-Imgur link”?), maybe because of unreliable hotlinking? (Not sure. If anyone knows, please comment.)
