While browsing some older submissions on Poal and especially , I have discovered a lot of posts with dead links because some image hoster went down.

I recommend you to store images you share into at least one web archival service.

Optionally, share alternative image links, and maybe reference the source, in the comments.

As far as I know, another possibility is creating an Archive.org account just for media aggregator image/video hosting.

Imgur also seems reliable (as far as I know), and their policy is to delete images uploaded by free users if they were not viewed by anyone within the prior 6 months.

But Imgur apparently has no good reputation on Voat for some reason (there's a bot that mirrors Imgur uploads to “non-Imgur link”?), maybe because of unreliable hotlinking? (Not sure. If anyone knows, please comment.)

Indeed.

But in the past few weeks, some Pic8 links (the image hosters it used) on some posts didn't work.

Maybe it has been fixed now.

It is currently fixed, I made sure to yell at every time it went down. He then complained that he didn't get a notification and I called him a faggot. I would like to point out he is the biggest faggot on poal.co. He has the badge and everything.

That said I'll talk to him and see what I can do to increase response time.
