Well typically, everything that is purely easthetical with zero meaning whatsoever, that's the fundamental difference with ancestral tattoos from medieval japan or europe or americas or whatever. It wasn't just for fun, it was ranks, family trees, part of magic rituals
Kind of like drug use, back then it wasn't recreational, it was religious except maybe for cocaine in egypt and I'm not even sure, I don't know much about that particular case
so less about modern tattoos or tattooing methods. and more about the current use of them.
I had to ask, because to me, vietnam guys, with unit tats, is modern... also so is that idiot who's picture has been all over with the half tattooed face for buying body parts...
I understand one, the other, I see as insane.
