Do you remember that stupid story about a lady suing Mcdonalds because her coffee was too hot, turns out that the reason people think it was stupid was because of propaganda sponsored by McDonalds and actually was not stupid at all.

I know all about this. I've seen the photos. I know what they did. But I agree with McDonald's. McDonald's served millions of cups of hot coffee, and she was the only one to injure herself in such a way, meaning she was the exception. I mean, she put hot coffee between her legs, and wasn't smart enough to get the lid off without burning herself. She was the one that made the mistake.

However, McDonald's shouldn't have resisted paying her medical bills, and giving her extra money to recover. Then they should have immediately changed how they served coffee. Make it a little cooler, and have workers put in the sugar, and cream.

Why should McDonald's have to change things for everyone because of one incompetent? Hotter water extracts more flavor. The simpler solution would be to leave her free to discover her own limitations. This woman was too stupid for take out coffee.

It can also burn the coffee bean making it bitter. And being a barista inside a sedan isn’t realistic.

McDonalds is a precisely designed food machine. The temp of the coffee was designed to extract the most flavor. The lady in the sedan didn't need to be a barista, she only needed to be a mammal with a functioning opposable thumb. We need to start asking people to be responsible for their own behavior and not asking the world to change for them.

It wasn't one person who got injured, it was one who sued. During the trial they showed that a bunch of people were getting injured and complaining and McDonalds ignored it so they were found to be negligent.

Pouring hot coffee on your crotch will burn your junk. News at 11

No, she wasn't the only one to injure herself. Thats why the initial amt was so high

That is actually not true. They had several instances prior to this and that is the reason for the lawsuit. They had knowledge that their products were injuring people, but failed to act. Get it now? Plus remember how flimsy those cups were back then?
