Small drones like these are being used extensively in Ukraine, by both sides. The use cheap civilian-available drones to scout, or carry shit. Or they'll arm them with grenades/bombs for anti-personnel use (there's HUNDREDS of videos of men getting shredded by one of these little fucking things dropping a 40mm on the unsuspecting men), and they've been using a lot of more advanced shit like kamikaze/hunter-killer drones to destroy vehicles and structures.
I haven't really seen anything about the countermeasures either side are using for drones. They've totally changed the battlefield- the simple ability to use them to scout and communicate live info to infantry in battle is a game changer.
Fog of war isn't a thing if these things are around. They can say "There's 4 enemy soldiers, two have rifles, one has a machine gun, one has a rocket, one looks wounded, they're moving east, I don't think they see you". Before, it'd be: You catch a glimpse of one of the guys. You report it to your squad, start carefully moving forward to figure out wtf you're up against, not knowing if there's a platoon of enemy troops right over the next hill or if it's just the one guy you saw.
These things fly so high, and are so small, that small arms don't seem to be effective. I haven't seen either side carrying shotguns, but they're getting massacred by the dozen by these fucking things.

This shit is terrifying to me. More terrifying than a sniper with a thermal scope. At least against a sniper, for him to be able to shoot you, he has to have a clear shot- which means you have a clean shot back. A sniper has to put himself in danger. Even the best-trained men feel fear, may hesitate and fuck up, especially when in lethal danger.
The thing that creeps me out about these drone attacks- the guy who's piloting that little fucking thing? He's miles away, safe, probably in a bunker somewhere. No gunfire around him, just a little office. Very little pressure as he's watching the drone's camera feed, very little risk in missing a bomb drop. They have all the time in the world to stalk their target, line up their drop, and make it happen- and their targets cannot retaliate in any meaningful way.
At least if you got popped by a sniper, maybe one of your buddies saw/heard the general area the shot came from and they get to work hunting the fucker down and taking him out. You're not doing that with the faggots operating these drones.
