It's not idiotic, it's unorthodox.
Best of intentions are behind this, also this harkens back to the old stories of mythology.
The outcasts meet in the wild, the wise prophets live far beyond the city limits, it's a reconnection to the world of nature.
It's also a good way to bypass the limitations imposed on city folk, to meet each other outside the city.
Boy, see, I'm already training for something like that myself, to get out of the cities, because it's going to get worse, but the way you put it doesn't make sense, some fool here might read it, and end up going into a forest, and find a junkie or a bandit or something, that's not how you do this kind of thing.
there are no junkies or bandits in the national parks, nor in the wilderness proper, either, those types all live in the cities and towns, even if we were to meet with one of the two categories you mentioned out there, we'd have a decent chance of coming out of the experience as allies, not enemies.

I work in the woods and you would be surprised. There are some absolute tweakers out in the woods. If you are recreating and encounter other recreators, generally no problem. If you encounter people working, you are probably in their way. And if you encounter people living in the woods, leave then alone, they live there for a reason.

uh...... yeah no, im not saying theyre everywhere but thats a fuckin stupid statement.
on top of that, if where you are is anything like here, thats not 'public' land insamuch as it is 'government' land and they dont want you camping on it
Do whatever you want.
