Good on you mate.
Have you looked into the reasons why you started in the first place? Perhaps unreconciled issues with family or friends etc. If not, may be worth your while to see a psychologist so you can finally put your inner demons to rest.
Shrinks/counselors are a mind fuckers. Thanks though for the good intentions behind the suggestion. I know why I drank.
I guess it depends on who you get.
I had a really cool older bloke. He helped me forgive and reconnect with my dad's side of the family. Fixed my sleeping issues. And had me work on "mindfullness", which is basically meditation without all the voodoo rubbish. Really worthwhile.
But that said, there are stories out there that the reason for all the US school shootings are CIA/deep-state connected psychologists, psychiatrists (the ones that prescribe drugs), and counsellors that brainwash loser kids into shooting up their class mates.
But if you know why you drank though, then that's half the battle, and the chances of you staying sober are much greater. I have faith that you'll make it to two months, 6 months, a year, and even for the rest of your life if that's what you're after. Good luck brother.
From what I've heard you are very lucky and got one who actually wanted to help and didn't just see a paycheck. I'd get the new high score in school shooting ;)
