It took me a very very long time to understand why aliens existing would interfere with religion. I did not get it. Then I realized it's because they've always been here (whoever they are). Even during biblical times they were here. That means they can state that their historical records show Jesus was not divine. That's going to be soul shattering for a lot of people and very disruptive to society. If a person is basing all these import decisions (don't cheat on your wife, don't steal, don't commit suicide) on belief in Christ and that gets rug pulled it's gonna be bad. Multiply that by millions and society is gonna be a mess. As an agnostic I'd take it in stride but I worry about my Christian allies. ***I'd say there's zero reason to believe anything the non humans say about anything.*** It's perfectly fine and perfectly rational to ignore them. They can fake any historical records with AI and they have their own needs and interests that are unlikely to perfectly align with humanity's; or to align much at all. If they say Jesus wasn't divine it could easily just be a psyop to disrupt things. There's no reason at all to assume honesty from a completely different species. I will remain agnostic, not atheist, and those of you who are Christian shouldn't change anything.
