Looks exactly the same size in both photos, with one of them being mirrored. Why not an actual before/after shot?
It is a huge round hole; the longer it sits there and its behavior during that time are rapidly narrowing down the possible causes. The only way the cause isn't known is if no one wants to know, or they do and the cause is inconvenient (and I don't mean aliens or subterranean life).
