He is forgetting there is an atmospheric shockwave distorting the light. He is also forgetting God can work through people and not just nature.

Have you seen a photo or video that illustrates that?
This article describes a situation that causes different refractive index than the surrounding air, and therefore merely ++bends the light++ like a swimming pool. Notice also the waves in the air discharge //outward from the source// and it is spherical in shape from the source of bang.
This can be witnessed in split second using very fast film which temporarily looks like this:

What we observe, however, is that a nearby street lamp brightens: its candlelight power increases to an extremely bright light. The spherical enlargement radiates outward from itself (not the source of the bang) This is observed occurring simultaneously.
