Very calm atmosphere so ice crystals lay flat as they fall very slow and stable. This is the cumulative effect. At night there would be light pillars, basically every lamp in a city looks like a vertically oriented spotlight.

There's a name for that though I can not - oh yeah - sun dogs.

Atmospheric ice crystals refracting the sunlight.

As a Canadian I can tell you it is damned cold out in that video, just by the sound his boots are making in the snow.

Cold snow crunches differently from warm snow.

I put that at about minus 30C or colder. Extra crispy cold.

When your nose hairs freeze. Also, you can freeze dry your laundry or go out with wet hair and comb out the ice. Hair is instantly dry.

I worked in the Yukon 1979. The Sundogs I saw were incredible, you have to witness it in person, pretty cool.

Could have to do with the earths weakening magnetic field due to the geomagnetic excursion (north and south magnetic poles are racing together towards the equator)

They are, but they are a long long way from this kind of weirdness.I guess 20-30 years before total failure.
