In the late 90s (like 1997-98) time frame the same thing was happening to scientists. Most of them were working around diseases. This latest batch seems to work around NASA.

I've been waiting to hear how the rate of missing or dead scientists compares to other professions, like accountants. I suspect it's somewhere between the rate for strippers and dentists, so is a nothing clickbait story.
