As a southerner, I hated that yankee bastard Malcolm Reed.

Trip was a bit off putting with his accent initially as a spaceship engineer in the future, but he grew on me.

I may be a little biased.

I am a southerner as well, trapped for life in Ohio. But you can tell they were going for space-hick. I learned to tolerate the trailer trash engineer.
