All other motivations aside, Far Beyond the Stars (imdb.com) (DS9) made a good case for the point of sci-fi writing. The recent legacy of Star Trek as a TV series is lack luster at best, but at its best it offers some insight into humanity.

Good point but that episode was a leap out of the the Star Trek universe that I didn’t really care for. It was well written and well done by Avery Brooks. But not my cup of tea. DS9 was on the edge of what was Star Trek, I enjoyed I but…
