No it'll devalue a lot of holding in gold, but it'll make electronics that use gold much cheaper. Hell the platinum cold be used to virtually free energy production by making plates that conduct from it. It could be a great thing for the industries that use the materials. So a few people lose their shirts while the rest get cheaper stuff of higher quality. I see 2 sides to this coin personally.

I'd personally stick to the platinum and any super rare elements since they can be used for much more stuff than gold can. We won't know anything for sure till 2030 or so. For all we know it's not gold but iron pirate which is worthless.
