An enormous asteroid containing some of the oldest known cosmic materials was discovered in Antarctica on Jan. 5.

The 17-pound rock is made up of material potentially billions of years old, and is one of the rarest and most “exciting” finds, according to the BBC. More than 45,000 asteroids have been found in Antarctica over the last hundred years, but this most recent rock is pretty special.

Likely originating from the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, the asteroid was discovered during an 11-day expedition by a group of international researchers, the Chicago Tribune noted. The team used specialized data and imaging tools to identify areas under the Antarctic ice where meteorites have landed throughout the history of our planet.

Right? The most common meteorite type found in one of the most common locations meteorites fall. Shocking? Not at all.

When you try to view through the eyes of science, any simple event is convoluted. The entirety of scientific mechanics that spam from nothingness to this exact moment of what we are and what we are doing is of such enormity that it is truly unfathomable.

My point is science does not explain to me the infinite amount of possibilities that would have to align without there being a higher power. To think that meteorites miniscule amounts of particulates somehow helped create the soup that man crawled out of seems impossible.

If the number of possibilities is indeed infinite, would anything be enough to explain it to you? By that I mean, do you have to have an answer? I'm OK not knowing how it all came to be.

Fun fact the universe and everything in it, is just the right everything for life to happen. From the big bang to water on Earth. While I dont believe in God. A lot of shit just happened to perfectly come together.
