That SpaceX launch from California seen by millions was pretty awesome to witness. I'm in the north central Arizona desert and it was so bright. I was happy to recognize what was going on after the first stage separation so I got my really old camera and took some pictures. The best one I ever saw was when I was in death valley back in 2017 and they launched something that went straight out over the ocean. it was so dark out but so bright we stopped the car and watched it for a while.

Looks like it launched out of Vandenburg, too far away for me.

I was about 480 miles away as the crow flies.

I'm roughly 500 miles away, maybe I could have seen it but didn't know when to look

When I lived in lower New England we could sometimes see the rockets coming out of Wallops. A lot of times though it would be towards the end of the burn and you wouldn't really have the effect of seeing something as close as the one that happened yesterday.
