I’m so psyched for the launch. I didn’t know Hubble has been up there since 1990. I knew it was old but the damn thing is older than me. There’s no photo cooler than the deep space photo with the thousands-millions of galaxies in it. It launches in December if you don’t know. December 21 I think but December either way.

Hubble Ultradeep Field (shitty 1024x768 I had from long ago) https://files.catbox.moe/7hjaa5.jpg

Cool, informative, non-telescopic infographics/comparison images I also had from long ago:

Planet diameters and distance between Earth and the Moon

Mercury: 3,030 miles (4,878 km) Venus: 7,521 miles or (12,104 km) Mars: 4,217 miles (6,785 km) Jupiter: 83,082 miles (133,708 km) Saturn: 36,184 miles (58,232 km) Uranus: 15,792 miles (25,362 km) Neptune: 34,503 miles (55,528 km)

End to end if lined up like billiard balls: 184,329 mi (296,597 km) Earth to Moon: Up to ~252,088 miles (405,696 km) (varies) Leaving: 67,759 mi (109,099 km) excess

Every planet could fit between the Earth and the Moon and still have nearly 68k miles left to spare.

Between the Earth's surface and the Moon's surface, you can fit 2 of Mercury, 2 of Venus, 2 of Mars, 2 of Saturn, 2 of Uranus, 1 Jupiter and 1 Neptune and it only equals 251,073 miles, so ~15 miles to spare...visualize that. Many have trouble with thinking the Moon is so close to us due to how it is portrayed in various graphic images, movies, games and shows where the scale and distance placement is warped as people cannot comprehend the distance involved, let alone the sheer magnitude of the size of planets and stars.

Forgot to include this interesting flash animation about scale I had from long ago. Was going to convert it to mp4 but found it on jewtube:

"The Scale of the Universe 2"

And this CGI video I also had from a while ago:

"The Known Universe"

The very post picture you posted is my favorite picture ever takin. I can’t wait to see the new ones

There’s no photo cooler than the deep space photo with the thousands-millions of galaxies in it.

Not even when the new telescope delivers high-resolution photos of bat-winged, Squaxxon the Mighty, terror of ten galaxies, rampantly exposing his unfeasibly tumescent, scaly, organ of generation in existential defiance of the emptiness of the cosmos?

I knew it was old but the damn thing is older than me

Damn, son... I'm old enough to be... your older half-brother from your dad's first marriage.
