The current definition of interstellar space seems to be too liberal to me. It's only a bit more conservative than the old one that once past Neptune, you've left the solar system. Instead, I believe that when we're halfway to the next star, we've really made it. Our definition of interstellar space today is the equivalent of a participation trophy.
