Also has a laser, radar and spectrometer ...i guess they are checking for the Mars site that will support people?

Seems to be real, amateur radio guys from USA and Germany were putting up aerials and dishes and managed to track it and confirmed the landing. https://twitter.com/df2mz The China space progam is not as free and open as NASA so they were holding back photos and instead used a NASA style CGI animation to show the Chinese landing.
