Due to a seriously retarded engineering decision made by a committee of know nothings which had the O2 levels in the capsule at 100%.

Beltway military bandits made a lot of shekels though.....

Clark MacDonald a McDonnell Douglas engineer hired by NASA to investigate the Jan. 27, 1967 Apollo1 fire, has charged the agency engaged in a cover up of the true cause of the Jan. 28, 1967 catastrophe, that killed astronauts Gus Grissom, Ed White and Roger Chaffee. .

Gus Grissom was allegedly going to disclose that the Apollo spacecraft was dangerously unsafe and unreliable, and was about to announce that the spacecraft would never be able to get to the Moon. Grissom's son says he was murdered, he had been granted access to the charred capsule and discovered a "fabricated” metal plate located behind the switch that controlled the capsule's electrical power source. .

Grissom Jr argues the placement of the metal plate was an act of sabotage, that when any of the astronauts toggled the switch to transfer power to the ship’s batteries, a spark was created that ignited a fireball. Grissom's widow Betty agrees with her son's claim her husband was murdered, "I believe NASA knew all along what really happened but covered up to protect funding for the race to the Moon." .

Awww, the death of some freemason faggots. Good riddance.
