After your recommendation, the wifey and I watched that movie last night. It was really good, but the very end scene with the cat just seemed kinda stupid. The monster infecting souls was well done, but - a cat? No.
Denzel makes some good movies, no doubt. My son was a bit actor in Deja Vu, filmed in New Orleans where we are from. My fave is Book Of Eli. Book Of Eli is the opposite of Fallen. Evil fights like hell to stop the good but fails again and again. And it ends so well.
