When you look at the Bible, stoning and death was reserved for mostly serious and harm inducing crimes. Adultery is a good example, adultery hurts society, the spouse, and the people who were involved. In today's clown world, it may come off as harmless, but many lives are destroyed from this one act, and all of it is based off selfishness. Is it harsh to stone adulterers? Maybe by today's standards. But knowing cheating on your spouse will lead to death is a great way to force women back into line, and remind them that being guided by crappy emotions is a very very bad idea
