What always blew my mind was the utter lack of historical knowledge. Same guys worshiping Hitler turn around and tell you how based Poland is and how they're the saviors of the white race or some nonsense. Debating w/ Nazi's doesn't bother me until they start peddling patently false nonsense. Hitler considered slavs subhuman yet still began recruiting them towards the end of the war when shit was going bad for their war effort. Relations w/ Italy were also interesting and hypocritical but that's a whole other thing that'd take too long to get into. In the end the man had no beliefs he wouldn't trade away. I'm not denigrating the brave souls that fought on each side in that war, but I will say Hitler was a Summer Soldier if there ever was one. Minute shit goes badly anything and everything is suddenly ok even when it's runs contrary to everything he "believes". Everyone's entitled to their opinions but I don't like it when people try to blow smoke up my ass or piss on my leg and tell me it's raining.
Totally agree. And like you, I believe brave, honorable men fought and died on both sides. That's how it always is. I just, as you, see so much of that goatland crap as rewriting history by those who haven't a clue. And in today's world, many aren't educated enough to see through the crap.
It's always like everyone fights to simplify history until it fits their narrative. History should always be examined in a nuanced fashion that looks to understand as opposed to simplify.
