I know the definition of never.
You said never should be contracted as n'ever. THIS isn't true. No other contraction needs another word added to it in order to read correctly.
We are = We're
You are = You're
Can not = Can't
Is not = Isn't
Who are = Who're
It would appear that there are no contractions with a full word at the end but many if not most contractions (although not all) have a full word in the beginning. I don't believe that is a fixed rule of the english language however.
Which one of those contractions requires another word to be read correctly in a sentence.
Never = do not ever.
