I've often thought if covid and the recent events aren't just cover for a real drop-off in demand. We know the global economy was slowing globally well before fall of 2019. In fact iirc it was steadily slowing since late 2015.
So if demand is gone and production stops, collapse. If the demand is gone but production continues, the wealthy and powerful stay wealthy and powerful.
