Think of everything that ends/ended up there... once you solve the energy supply question (cheap/available), you can process waste and produce viable amounts of many materials. Call it a "multi-mine" vs. the current mines located upon and producing one mineral.
There will be a land grab (think like Storage Wars... nobody knows what is buried but they bid on them and try to make money going through what is within), and for a few decades these multi-mines will prosper until transmutation (by industrial mastery of cheap fusion/fission of non-heavy elements) becomes widespread.
So go and buy abandoned landfills, wait 50-100 years, profit!
