Yes. I always start with solving white.
More specifically, I learned making white cross then solving white corners. Then solving the middle colors and finally solving the yellow.
I peeled all the colored stickers off mine. Now it's permanently solved... I think that's a metaphor as well...

This is a true story. Believe it or not.
I stopped by a friends house, this was back in the early 90's. There was a Rubix Cube on the table and it was fucked. No matches on any side. I never said anything. I just picked it up and began working it really fast. All of a sudden all the sides were the same color. Everyone was shocked. I was fucking shocked because at this time I didn't understand the algorithms of it or anything. It was pure luck or maybe it was a subconsciousness thing. I played it off like I was super cool and talked down to everyone like they were retards. It was glorious.
I got 2 sides solid. That's when I would get bored with it and walk away.
