It used to be common practice. If someone lets you cut in front of their vehicle you show a little appreciation and throw a friendly wave as a thank you. People virtually never do this anymore, everyone has an entitlement or fuck you mentality. Little gestures like this go a long way in a society.

I was pleasantly surprised when the neighbor kids from down the street riding their new scooters from Christmas stopped to let me by and waved. Never met or seen them before. At least some parents are raising their kids right. All too often anymore, I see the same rude behavior passed down to the kids.
