I don't think of myself as a bleeding heart, but this seems like such a fucked-up thing to do to a creature. I understand testing certain effects of stuff on animals, but..watching how long they go before they drown, Saw-style? Yikes.

Rats are pests in most parts of the world, and there are worse ways to go for them. Poison comes to mind first.

Absolutely. And poisoning pests makes total sense. We have rodent traps. But what amounts to torture is fucked up.
