I've read Bill Gates wants to put chalk into the atmosphere to reduce sunlight...don't ever put it past these fuckers.

Chalk is believable because chalk exists and can be released into the high atmosphere. "Smart dust", well that's another story altogether. This article is suggesting the "smart dust" is a fully computerized microparticle with sensors, a power supply and communication capabilities. Nothing like that has been proven to exist or even be possible with our current technology. Sure you can say "they have technology far ahead of what we know about", but that's never been proven in this context at all. It's not really likely or possible with how physics works.

The whole fanfic is written as it is because Julian Assange once mentioned the term "smart dust" in an interview. He did not elaborate on the concept one tiny bit nor did he ever mention it again. I have scoured the internet for years looking for Julian to speak more on the subject but he never did. Given that, anyone adding to the "smart dust" concept is just making shit up because there is nothing remotely credible about it from the only person ever to use the term at the time. That's why I call this article fearmongering bullshit.

While I agree I must posit....power supply is only an issue unless there is actuation of "zero-point" or "aetheric energy" (tesla, orgone, insert your own).

Zero point energy is purely theoretical still. Even if it was possible to harness ZPE or other virtual particle energy, at the scale of nano- or micro-particles the whole thing goes sideways because of quantum effects. We already see such issues with semiconductors at the scale we can produce. Additionally, such small scale particles are too small to transmit or receive signals from 5G as the article mentions. The particles are miniscule compared to the signal wavelengths and therefore you could not have an antenna element that would handle such a large wavelength, not to mention the power for transmission would be extremely small so you could not reach a receiver without the noise drowning out the signal. This is why physics says none of this is possible with our current understandings and potentially not ever even with full understanding (which is not possible).
