The rate of dementia in the US is expected to double by 2050, and is believed to be linked to poor diet (process foods, bad fats, additives and pesticides). Choline, which is related to B vitamins, is an important factor linked to reducing the risk of dementia.

Choline is a precursor of the important neurotransmitter acetylcholine, a chemical used in the transmission of brain impulses between nerves, muscles and organs. In this role it is involved directly with cognition, long and short term memory, stimulus response, and mental energy.

In fact, doctors now prescribe Cholinesterase Inhibitors for dementia patents to combat the body's breakdown of choline, thereby improving brain function.

"Cholinesterase inhibitors (ChEIs), also known as anti-cholinesterase are chemicals that prevent the breakdown of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine or butyrylcholine. This increases the amount of the acetylcholine or butyrylcholine in the synaptic cleft that can bind to muscarinic receptors, nicotinic receptors and others."

.

Best food sources of Choline:

  • Whole Eggs
  • Organ Meat
  • Caviar
  • Wild Caught Fish (esp. Salmon, Tuna and Cod)
  • Shittake Mushrooms
  • Soybeans
  • Beef (preferably grass fed organic)
  • Chicken and Turkey (preferably organic)
  • Cruciferous Vegetables (such as Broccoli, Cauliflower, Brussel Sprouts)
  • Almonds
  • Lima Beans
  • Red Potatoes
  • Kidney Beans
  • Quinoa

Family History of Dementia

If you have a history of dementia in your family, I would consider the following supplements in addition to a healthy diet:

  • Choline capsules
  • Selenium
  • Turmeric (which halts the creation of Lewy Bodies, one of the worst forms of dementia)

You should also consider genetic testing that can identify your risk factors for dementia, including Alzheimers, Parkinsons, and Lewy Body. This way you can begin treatments (usually special supplements, which may include high-potency B1, methyl-folate and methyl-B-12 ) long before any symptoms occur.

Functional Medicine

This is a new approach to medicine, where the doctor focuses on diagnosing the root cause of illness rather than treating symptoms, which is how traditional medicine works. Functional medicine doctors perform genetic testing and prescribe dietary changes and supplements along with traditional medicine to treat your condition. In my opinion this is the best means to combat difficult diseases such as dementia where there are no cures yet available and many pharmaceutical companies have abandoned drug development.

I wish I had just enough dementia so that I could play red dead redemption 2 over and over and over and relive the game like it was the first time. Holy shit that game was good

I've been meaning to try that game for a while. Supposedly the horses on there are pretty cool.

Did you buy rdr 2 yet

One thing that game does that I always wanted in grand theft Auto is the ability to kill witnesses. Say you blow somebody’s face off point blank with a shotgun. Somebody will see tjat and run and if they get away you’ll have a bounty on your head. As long as you can kill the witnesses then you can do whatever you want. The game is beautiful. Ok I’ll stop sending you messages. Just play it

There was one moment in that game that just stuck out to me. I was riding around somewhere. I saw a house. I went up to see if I could go inside. I walk in. There’s two people in there. The one kid goes dad I heard something. He comes around the corner to investigate so I stabbed him to death. Then I tied up his father and set him on fire and robbed everything. It’s just so good. So so so good

Dude it’s an amazing game. The world is alive, more than any game Iv ever played. The world is enormous. You have rocky mountains snow covered peaks, deserts, swamps, Alaskan type wilderness, plains, basically every American landscape, even jungles a little bit. There’s all types of wildlife. The combat is incredible. Best Iv ever seen. You can torture people, drown people, feed people to animals. There’s so many towns there’s a version of New Orleans. You can play that game a a hundred times and always find so many new things. Absolute masterpiece of a game. You can be a good guy or a bad guy. I can’t do it justice in the description. There’s moments in that game. Ok you’re up in the Alaskan wilderness. And you feel like you really are. And you hear noises and you get legitimately nervous. Play it. Fucking play it. When I beat the campaign I was so bummed out. I mean rockstar doesn’t pump out shitty games. They only make one every few years. Rdr 2 is made from all the grand theft auto five money which if you don’t know is one of the highest selling video games of all time. You can go into almost every building you see. Theres just so much in it. So many things to find. I’m telling you. It’s absolutely worth it

Turmeric is amazing stuff with a ton of uses. may be one of the healthiest things on the planet. I make mine with stew meat, but ground beef is ok too.

Edit: And make your own . It isn't hard.

;). Sounds great.

I agree about Turmeric.........and its a staple in Indian food and they have one of the lowest incidences of Alzheimers

I'm glad to hear curried beef is so healthy. During the first trimester of my last pregnancy I was living off that, yogurt, and the occasional chicken sandwich. I'll have to try your recipe with the peas and potatoes, that looks awesome. Thanks for sharing it.

They're legumes. All legumes have the negative hormonal effect that soy does. Just not nearly as bad, but it's there.
