There are five blue zones where researchers have found people live the longest, active and medication free lives. In fact, people in the Blue Zones have as many as 4 times the number of centenarians (>100 years old) as the US. The US has only 1.73 centenarians for every 10,000 people. The Blue Zone locations are:

* Sardinia, Italy
* Okinawa Japan
* Icaria, Greece
* Loma Linda, California
* Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica .

In Icaria, remarkably, almost one out of three people make it to their 90s and cancer, heart disease and dementia are nearly non-existent.

Some of the hallmarks of the Blue Zones are:

* Primarily plant based diet
* Meat (especially red meat) is only eaten a few times a month
* Many dishes contain healthy servings of beans
* Plants are indigenous -- and free of pesticides
* Dishes made w/ locally grown herbs
* In the Med, dishes include healthy doses of local Olive Oil
* No processed food and no snacking
* Sunny locale ensures plenty of Vitamin D
* Sugar is mostly consumed from fruits
* Obesity is virtually non-existent

Remaining active is also key in these areas. Most people over 90 still work, with many holding jobs after 100. The low stress, tight knit community is a also key factor in longevity in the Blue Zones.

NIH/Pubmed has many studies that conclude reduced and or meat-free diets extend longevity. Here's one study that shows a large population (monitored over several years) where 12% fewer vegetarians died from all cause mortality:

Oh look, a bunch of leftist propaganda supporting leftist ideology! Be a vegan, goy, you'll live longer. When I look at vegans they never look healthy to me.

NPR huh?...

Yeah, (((NPR))).

[–] -1 pt

NO, not associated with NPR at all. I just linked an article written by NPR. The Blue Zone project is not affiliated with NPR.

NPR huh?...

red meat bad

[–] 3 pts

Yeah the only relevant part of that list is:

  • No snacking
  • Sugar only from fruits

Boom, now you're in the blue zone boys.

[–] 3 pts

Plus the medicine-free part. They're trying to pass off as a result of the lifestyle/diet, which it partially is. But staying pharma free is probably foundational to staying healthy in the first place.

Lots of red meat is not good for you, but its not all bad. You need some B-12 and iron in your diet.

[–] 3 pts

Red meat has all the nutrients you need to survive and meat proteins are vastly more bioavailable than plant proteins.

That's true of everything we consume - it should all be eaten in moderation.

NPR is socialist lie shit.

This OP link was totally discredited and Olive Oil studies PROVEN TO BE CRIMINALLY FABRICATED STUDIES!

Its all covered in the massively popular and well sourced book on the topic of diet and longetevity and proved you eat THE OPPOSITE as this OP list of socialist lies.

FAMOUS book discrediting all the lies in this OP list with hard data from proper science papers.

NPR didn't identify the Blue Zones, other researchers did. All I did is link an NPR article (which is well written). Go to the actual Blue Zones site to get the detailed info. It's not owned by NPR or affiliated with NPR.

Zones do not count unless you eliminate DNA effects for each region and/or have very detailed telomere measurements across time.

Lifespan is based on telomere and longest lifespan is actually based on being obese if counting only all-cause mortality and AVERAGE lifespan. Tens of millions of dollars of science papers on this. Fat people who eat meat live the longest.

All your silly blue zones show is DNA genetics.

Worse, your silly blue zones use CORRELATION not CAUSATION studies.

It would make a scientist weep.

NPR just wrote a story that I linked here (because it was well written). The Blue Zones project is NOT related to NPR in any way.

Vagitarian.

Of course they will tell you red meat is bad. But estrogen filled chicken is ok though...

"NIH study". Cause we know they are completely honest.

Loma Linda 7th Day Adventist enclave and muh soy burgers, soy franks and so on. Their founder was knocked in the skull and had visions...hmmmm yeah??

[–] 1 pt

Estrogen filled chicken is very bad.

Studies posted on the pubmed website aren't necessarily funded by NIH. In fact, many of them come from all over the world. You need to read the study to determine if it's legit in terms of sample size, blind placebos etc. Don't assume all of them are wrong or bad because they are posted there. In fact, you will find important information about treating disease that the FDA and big Pharma refuse to acknowledge

[–] 2 pts

Plain and simple. Red meat is healthy. It is good for you. It it the easiest food for your body to digest. Time to digest does not equal ease of digestion. Fat is what makes meat take longer to digest. Fat is also good. We've been deceived by the sugar industry ever since Eisenhower had a heart attack.

You can't even fully digest plant material. Fiber from plants can tear and scratch your intestinal lining causing health problems down the road. Nothing is healthy if you over eat.

1 meal per day and 3 bottles of water. Vanilla ice cream if I want a treat at night. Intermittent fasting helps with digestion and aides in achieving ketosis.

I agree, fat is good. All fats are not created equal.

Don't assume all of them are wrong or bad because they are posted there

What color is your hair?

medication free

That's a huge part. I wonder what vaccination rates are in those places. And power grid saturation.

I don't know which, this or OP jumping to defend this article, is the stupidest fucking thing I've seen all week. Seriously OP...stop pumping propaganda.

gretta turdburger told me peanutbutter and cockroache sandwiches are what's best fer me.

People live to 100 everywhere unless they're killed in battle, obese, or poisoned. Is not at all rare

[–] 0 pt

They don't that often in the US. 1.7 in every 10,000

[–] 1 pt

Don't trust public stats, unless you're a covidiot.

My great grandparents didn't have birth certificates, so no one knows how old they are, especially some academic or govt agent.

Americans that don't live to 100 are largely poinsoned by what they eat, drink, and environmental pollutants. You get to 100 by eating what man has been eating for 10000s of years, not cola and soylent89

[–] 0 pt

It's highly likely that, Your grandparents are government clones and you are part of an experiment.

Look closely into your dogs eyes to see if it is a cybernetic surveillance drone. If it is, dont let them know you know.

[–] 0 pt

This sounds like a bunch of bullshit.

meat free

No thanks, I'll stick with the cancer. Imagine the ego to think you can escape death forever.

[–] 1 pt

Blue Zones are not meat free....

[–] 0 pt

Most of em are heavier on fish but also they still eat meat in those places. OP is being a hippie troll.

[–] 0 pt

Olive Oil is good for you. You know what else is good for you? Organ meats. Liver. Kidneys.

[–] 0 pt

The globalist marxists say red meat bad because they are planning on removing it from white people's diets.
