They like to say shit like that but DNA is like a choose your own adventure book. Just because you choose path two and and skipped ahead to page 45, doesn't mean pages 22-44 aren't still in the book. Similarly you can change one tiny little sequence and activate/de-activate/re-interpret massive swaths of genetic code.
