The DSM was written by competing schools of US psychologists, there was and probably still is a turf war in psychology as to which particular school of thought is paramount The section studied by liverpool university is one of these turf war victories, the section of personality.
IMO, psychology is waging a war on the rest of the social sciences to be recognised as the new secular priestly caste, they are winning as they control the language. Their assessments have a great deal of similarity with police interrogations and they will never admit there could be a physical source to any of their clients problems, Psychiatry is the same.
They are not very smart people to start with.
