Interesting read anyway but I actually meant the slaves not the plebeians.
I think nowadays the masses can stay brain washed for much longer due to constant TV and mass media propaganda until they have enough demand for change to stand up/wake up, choose the better word. Though in return the protests or civil wars may be much more devastating due to that fact. Or maybe they won't thanks to advanced military.
