A pre-production batch of Russian single-engine Su-75 Chess fighters will be produced in 2026, according to documents released at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) and obtained by TASS.
“The pre-production batch of the Su-75 light tactical aircraft <…> should be manufactured in 2026,” the document says.
A pre-production lot is an initial batch made to confirm that a new design is ready for full-scale production.
Yury Slyusar, CEO of the United Aircraft Corporation, said earlier in an interview with TASS that the company plans to produce four Checkmate prototypes.
The Checkmate light tactical fighter developed by Sukhoi (part of the Rostec United Aircraft Corporation) was first presented to the public at the MAKS-2021 air show. Its foreign debut took place at the Dubai Airshow 2021 in the United Arab Emirates. Checkmate combines the latest technical solutions, open architecture and unique artificial intelligence technologies. It is a stealth aircraft with an internal air-to-air and air-to-surface weapons bay. The payload exceeds seven tons. The aircraft can destroy six targets at the same time. It will be able to fly at Mach 1.8 and have a combat radius of 3,000 km (1,864 mi).
The Seventh Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), organized by the Roscongress Foundation, was held from September 5 to 8 in the Far Eastern city of Vladivostok. TASS is the general information partner of the event and its official photo-leading agency. This year the theme of the forum is “Towards a multipolar world”.
