i would argue all putin had to do was maintain military readiness and he could overpower us, we are destroying our own militaries and calling it progress

Let's face it, the Russian Army is not to laugh at, but this war so far hasn't been a success after six months. The same happened with the USA Army in Afghanistan or Iraq, and USA Army also was number 1 military then.
Russia is fighting nato. Not some afghan sheep fuckers or Iraqis. Nato trained the Ukrainians in the latest nato tactics and strategy over 8 years and NATO trainers and strategists are running the war for Ukraine. These are the best NATO could train over 8 years.
