Same as LA from New York. Meaning St. Petersburgh from Vladivostok. Probably have to take a train or fly there.

Yeah you got the idea, just keep in mind that pretty much all of the east side is lacking development.

I've seen some nice videos of Vladivostock. For some reason I've become enamoured with leggy Russian women. Yes, I know, women are the same wherever you go and shouldn't be put on a pedestal. Could just be programming or something like that.

If that is your goal you need to learn the language well before you head over there, tourism is one thing, mingling with people enough to make a not stupid choice is another.
