Yeah, the thing about cooking/preparing animals alive is absolutely fucked and I don’t understand why some Asians do it.
You’ll see places in Japan where they’ll serve you live frogs that you can eat raw: they gut them and slice their bottom half, leaving them to watch as you eat their legs and belly.
I’m genuinely confused how anyone could have such disrespect and be so inhumane towards the animals that die so we may live.
We eat shellfish alive, cook lobsters alive and the thing the French do with the ortolan is pretty fucked up. All pales in significance to what those bug people do with dogs though.
As I understand it, the whole point is that it's a shocking way to eat something. Kind of like how the US has rocky mountain oysters, it's meant to be disturbing and to see who's brave enough to do it.
They're not over there torturing animals every morning with breakfast.
