It’s not cruel to put an animal down that has cancer and is suffering. Dropping an animal off at a shelter because you don’t have the balls to put the animal down, and sit with them as they go, is beyond cruel.
Honestly though, saving an animal in this condition, and not extending that lifeline to the many other healthy young dogs put down in shelters at that same time, is also cruel.
There is a problem with pet owners and shelters in America. There are plenty of no kill shelters that need volunteers and money. If you have the opportunity to donate either please do.

In fairness, it may not have been voluntary. Could have been owned by an old man or woman with alzheimers who got involuntarily committed.
True, but people pull use shelters as a cheap/easier option to have a pet put down so often my mind immediately jumps there...
My dog comes to mind. The guy was left to a tree and left to die in the time of the last financial crisis. I noticed that he does not respond to treats or snacks, but responds to being smacked on the back hind. So im thinking this guy was alpha rolled or something, because its so sad he only responds to being smacked. But now i feed him custom made meals, so i may be going off the deep end. I simply dont know what's in those petco foods, so he gets beef or pork, chopped into little pieces.
True.
