Electric. Thought they were a joke until I was in a similar situation. Multiple gas saws, zero started. 12 inch DeWalt. Little thing ran thru 4 batteries and every one that recharged that day. Lost count of how many times I refilled the chain oil reservoir. Bought one new, the best day. Been through several chains and rails on it, they just wore out. "But it's too small for this big tree!" Cut V's and take an axe and a maul. Fuck ever having to start or fix on a gas saw again.
Have a corded electric. It jammed on the trunk.
Ouch. I could only vouch for the DeWalt. And axes. Just FYI, people severely underestimate the time and energy it takes to go through trees with a good axe. If you go that route and you're not in shape, you're gonna hurt.
