I feel like study groups determine shit like this.

I'm sure they would love to call a covid mutation the "Omega" mutation but maybe such heavy handed emphasis has the opposite effect on instilling fear. Maybe subtly it breaks the spell. Or when people start dying in mass from the experimental drug in their veins, that's when they'll use "The Omega Strain".

I hate humanity.

Think of how they name hurricanes when they exhaust people names. Clearly it's a dig at those of us in SE Louisiana down on the Delta.
