Or we could stop relying on dictators and fix our own problems. "I'm waiting for another hitler before I do anything." Isn't a million miles off "trust the plan."
Humans are inherently hierarchical. I can look back on history and see countless dictators and strongmen fixing all kinds of problems.
No such thing ever happened with an amorphous blob of powerless nobodies. Grassroot movements are astroturfed myths.
In very small groups of white people it can happen https://youtu.be/RQl0p8rYPaI?t=613
I have zero problems with hierarchies, as you say, hierarchies are natural and necessary. The issue comes when people get so addicted to a particular hierarchy (in this case, one that doesn't even exist) that they can't function if it collapses or is subverted.
However, I would say that you're absolutely wrong about communities full of highly self-motivated individuals not achieving anything. Those phases of society tend to be the strongest and the most resistant to subversion. By the time dictators become necessary things are already pretty much lost. Very very few societies in history have bounced back from the dictator phase and recovered their initial vigour.
