Interesting. I'm about to embark on a similar type of project using an ESP32 and a PI clone (because I can't get my hands on a real one). In this case, I'm retrofitting a 70's vintage receiver by ripping out the power supply, tuner, amplifier, light bulbs and replacing them a class D amplifier, LEDs and computers. It will work similar except the tuning knob will switch internet feeds and play lists. For the analog inter station noise, I'll use an mp3 of the noise.
