I don't understand the comparison to Raspberry Pi: the boards are orders of magnitude more expensive, bigger, power hungry & windows based. Finally, there's no GPIO.

Cost wise, you can buy a RPi for $35-60. The cheapest Framework is $519. This means I can buy 14 x RPis for the price of a single Framework. My question is, does the framework perform 14 x more work than the RPi?

If you're looking for a reasonable RPi substitute, the Libre Computer Board AML-S905X-CC (Le Potato) 2GB 64-bit Mini Computer fits the bill. It clocks in at about $55.

$500+ ? Author does not understand the purpose of the pi.

Awe man, an x86 "Pi-like" board would be fantastic.
