All of the stuff is on my workbench. No one else is here but me. Yet a vital piece of the item has simply vanished into thin air. Where the fuck did it go? I've found things I didn't remember having in my search, and it's not there.

Make a list of all components and put them on a chart. Record on said chart every time you touch a piece, date, time etc. If your writing is 98% accurate, you may have a chance to see a pattern and figure it out.
