I FUCKING HATE the trend where governments/companies/businesses/etc all stopped having their own websites and started just using facebook. Especially since (maybe its still true, i don't know) you had to have an account and log in to see a business page.

Fuck that nonsense.

At least my town has a mailing list that you can opt-in to for various announcements around town.

Possible lawsuit under certain civil or state codes requiring public notices etc. to be posted in publicly-accessible locations; Facebook has requirements to entry so it's ineligible for such purpose.

There are services that can cast one update to many platforms. And a plugin on their website can get that same update. Super low effort (the government way) and would work fine. Maybe they can hire some DEI nigger to take a year to figure out how to implement it.
