Out of curiosity, have you tried that Christian cost sharing program? Forget the name, I think it's like Medishare or something. Doesn't help with basic visits and tests, but if you get admitted, it will keep you from a 6 digit bill

Yes. They're a communist organization - they use "mandatory if..." a lot of places, and unless you have one of those outrageous deductible tier HDHP you're going to pay a lot more.

My mom is in the same boat. She still thinks Obama was amazing...sigh. She will be old enough for Medicare or Medicaid whichever it is soon, but she's afraid they will have stipulations like forced jabs in order to get treatment.

Unless it's something damaging - I had a really bad sinus infection for a couple months earlier this year, for example, I don't use health care.
In that one case, I used an online thing. It cost $49 for the "visit" and the amox script. If it's something really serious, then I guess I'll be the old lady who swallowed the fly.
