The term originates in the systematic manipulation of a victim by her husband in Patrick Hamilton’s 1938 stage play Gas Light, and the film adaptations released in 1940 and 1944. In the story, the husband attempts to convince his wife and others that she is insane by manipulating small elements of their environment and insisting that she is mistaken, remembering things incorrectly, or delusional when she points out these changes. The play's title alludes to how the abusive husband slowly dims the gas lights in their home, while pretending nothing has changed, in an effort to make his wife doubt her own perceptions. The wife repeatedly asks her husband to confirm her perceptions about the dimming lights, but in defiance of reality, he keeps insisting that the lights are the same and instead it is she who is going insane!

Today we are living in a perpetual state of gaslighting. The reality that we are being told by the media is at complete odds with what we are seeing with our own two eyes. And when we question the false reality that we are being presented, or we claim that what we see is that actual reality, we are vilified as racist or bigots or just plain crazy. You’re not racist. You’re not crazy. You’re being gaslighted.

New York State has twice as many deaths from Covid-19 than any other state, and New York has accounted for one fifth of all Covid-19 deaths, but we are told that New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has handled the pandemic better than any other governor. But if we support policies of Governors whose states had only a fraction of the infections and deaths as New York, we’re called anti-science and want people to die. So, we ask ourselves, am I crazy? No, you’re being gaslighted.

We see mobs of people looting stores, smashing windows, setting cars on fire and burning down buildings, but we are told that these demonstrations are peaceful protests. And when we call this destruction of our cities, riots, we are called racists. So, we ask ourselves, am I crazy? No, you’re being gaslighted.

We see the major problem destroying many inner-cities is crime; murder, gang violence, drug dealing, drive-by shootings, armed robbery, but we are told that it is not crime, but the police that are the problem in the inner-cities. We are told we must defund the police and remove law enforcement from crime-riddled cities to make them safer. But if we advocate for more policing in cities overrun by crime, we are accused of being white supremacists and racists. So, we ask ourselves, am I crazy? No, you’re being gaslighted.

The United States of America accepts more immigrants than any other country in the world. The vast majority of the immigrants are “people of color”, and these immigrants are enjoying freedom and economic opportunity not available to them in their country of origin, but we are told that the United States is the most racist and oppressive country on the planet, and if we disagree, we are called racist and xenophobic. So, we ask ourselves, am I crazy? No, you’re being gaslighted.

Capitalist countries are the most prosperous countries in the world. The standard of living is the highest in capitalist countries. We see more poor people move up the economic ladder to the middle and even the wealthy class through their effort and ability in capitalist countries than any other economic system in the world, but we are told capitalism is an oppressive system designed to keep people down. So, we ask ourselves, am I crazy? No, you’re being gaslighted.

Communist countries killed over 100 million people in the 20th century. Communist countries strip their citizens of basic human rights, dictate every aspect of their lives, treat their citizens as slaves, and drive their economies into the ground, but we are told that Communism is the fairest, most equitable, freest, and most prosperous economic system in the world. So, we ask ourselves, am I crazy? No, you’re being gaslighted.

The most egregious example of gaslighting is the concept of “white fragility”. You spend your life trying to be a good person, trying to treat people fairly and with respect. You disavow racism and bigotry in all its forms. You judge people solely on the content of their character and not by the color of their skin. You don’t discriminate based on race or ethnicity. But you are told you are a racist, not because of something you did or said, but solely because of the color of your skin. You know instinctively that charging someone with racism because of their skin color is itself racist. You know that you are not racist, so you defend yourself and your character, but you are told that your defense of yourself is proof of your racism. So, we ask ourselves, am I crazy? No, you’re being gaslighted.

Gaslighting has become one of the most pervasive and destructive tactics in American politics. It is the exact opposite of what our political system was meant to be. It deals in lies and psychological coercion, and not the truth and intellectual discourse. If you ever ask yourself if you’re crazy, you are not. Crazy people aren’t sane enough to ask themselves if they’re crazy. So, trust yourself, believe what’s in your heart. Trust your eyes over what you are told. Never listen to the people who tell you that you are crazy, because you are not, you’re being gaslighted.

Sophocles said: "What people believe prevails over the truth." And that's what the media are trying to exploit. If you have read this far let me say one thing. I did not write the above and I am not sure who the author is.

I sent this to you because you are hopefully smart enough to understand what is being done to you on a daily basis from many directions. Just think through what you are being told. Don't listen with a deaf ear, or see with a blind eye. Question everything -- even things from people who you think you can trust. Question why you are being told whatever, by whoever. Question their motives. Question who benefits. Question if there is a hidden agenda behind the propaganda. Question, Question, Question. Then do your own research, and use some of your own critical thinking skills to get to the truth. Listen with your heart and with your mind. Sadly, 95% of the masses don't even know that they are being gaslighted.

Let me tell you why humans are hardcoded to offshore decision making, their opinions, thoughts etc. And why they choose who they will let do it.

It's not a stupid mishape of human's it's actually very smart. What's not very smart is no one is aware of it.

In AI, aka simulated or intelligence duplicated, there exists something called the "heuristic". When we do decision making, it requires energy. It requires thought, it requires time; if we REALLY want to consider ALL the truths, possibilities and outcomes. So the mind (and AI systems) create a short cut system.

Here's and example of a heuristic - Imagine you're in the middle of a valley, surrounded by moutains. You CAN NOT see over the mountains. So you don't know which way to go. You HAVE to make an assumption and just try one. What do you go off by? If you're dumb, you just pick one, maybe one looks like a movie you once saw, who knows. Smarter people, maybe they'll consider the quickest to get over first so they can cycle them faster. Really smart, you might have a GPS, or have great memory and remember how tf you got there in the first place. Or know the stars etc.

The differences in how people chose which decision to make without perfect knowledge, are called heuristics.

Now in offloading your thoughts, decisions, beliefs / opinions etc. This is a heuristic at work. People look to "experts", "trusted individuals", "people who has risen on their merit" for quick downloads on decision making, opinions etc. In normal operating life, this is a very trustable high overall success shortcut.

The problem is the DS is literally scientific on their manipulation of the masses. They take advantage of this. Create a firewall of media and manufactured consent online to try to keep an above 50% consensus from figures that appear they are those who raised to "experts", "trusted individuals" etc. 50% is another one of those heuristics. If above 50% just believe something, then it's probably a "safe" belief to just download without double checking. When done on "expert" types, the download is near unshakable.

Exactly.

It's an evolutionary strategy just as raping is. People might think that rapists are mutants or something but if they rape and they get offspring that way then their strategy worked (and that's why rape should be punished by death to cleanse the gene pool or their parasitic genes).

[–] 2 pts

I agree, rape should be a capital offense...

[–] 3 pts

If rape is an evolutionary strategy, then so are false accusations of rape. How many times has a woman falsely cried 'rape!' when her real motives were simply spite or to get herself out of trouble? Rapists should die, but false accusers must also face severe sanctions.

Good analysis, as a skeptic I take the longer route of going through multiple sources, I also go to the root of info provided by "trusted sources" to form my own opinions. This has been helpful in seeing through counterfeit information but most people don't put in this type of effort.

When people claim "common sense" they are literally claiming "common heuristic".

Heuristics have a funny "phenomenon" of smarter more effective ones spectacularly getting some things wrong, but overall getting way more, and way more important things 100% correct. That's where the bell curve heuristic people say HUR DUR Don't have common sense!

This is also why dumb people can often get a lot of things right that average people can't. The other (same) phenomenon of dumb heuristics getting overall more things wrong, but sometimes getting things right common sense / average heuristics don't.

[–] 4 pts (edited )

as a skeptic

You have an additional heuristic that kicks in when you should or should not do a full analysis. And you have the smarts / brain power to do the full analysis.

That heuristic may be the short cut of ie, if MSM then do full analysis. Or "if looney asshole obvious liberal" then do full analysis. However it might have a hole in it ie, it might never kick if if the source appears to be from a right cultured appeared consensus.

So one might be, ie, susceptible to manufactured consent campaigns that appear within the "right's" culture style.

That's how heuristics work, they're based off of statistics. They have holes and things statistically slip through. Their point is to have a brain processing power cutoff threshold. What's the best decision making it can achieve with the minimal brain power needed. Because we can't operate crunching everything at full power and expense. Just not possible, for anyone.

[–] 3 pts (edited )

This is quite true although in many cases even with sources I trust I still will go the extra mile and check sources depending on a few weighted factors like how much I care to know the accuracy or time I have since I'm aware of the bias slant ir defects in transmission every source of info can have.

ie, if MSM then do full analysis. Or "if looney asshole obvious liberal" then do full analysis. However it might have a hole in it ie, it might never kick if if the source appears to be from a right cultured appeared consensus.

Also, that's a whole lotta conditionals, brother 😂

At this point I’m fairly certain I make better decisions than 99.99% of people. Fuck the heuristic.

[–] 1 pt

Heuristics is just a way to explain how this happens.

[–] 4 pts

Considering trannies as actual women is gaslighting

[–] 2 pts

That's why trannies don't even make an effort to look or act like real women. They enjoy the power of making other people act as if they believe, when they absolutely know they are submitting to a falsehood.

Good rant, stolen or not.

Sadly, 95% of the masses don't even know that they are being gaslighted.

I don't know the exact percentage but NPC/sheep types are never going to know, never, it's not in their DNA. They have monkey-see-monkey-do as a strategy (either because their brains are too small, or they use their brains for other things).

What We must do eventually is to accept that these people exist and find a way to exclude them from political decision making (via caste/class system or meritocracy or similar).

You know that you are not racist, so you defend yourself and your character

I used to think like that but I am now racist and I don't think that's anything to be ashamed of. That character, intelligence is so easily estimated by skin color nose shape is extremely practical. To value your own kin also makes sense evolution-wise and it is easier to form alliances based on race rather than some more complicated concept such as competency.

This is profound. Thank you. I'm taking this one with me.

(((these))) are spam.

You expect anyone to believer that from 5:57 AM and you posting this to 1 minute later at 5:58 AM you posting this took you only 1 minute to think through and write? No. That isn't what happened. You had these prewritten as a means of spamming the board and sliding threads. Then from first spam post @ 5:55 to second at 5:57 to third at 5:58 to fourth at 6:04. You think anyone believes you? No. The gaps are the spam warning that sometimes happens but other times doesn't.

Just because I had stuff written out and or copied and was going through it doesn’t mean I was spamming. It’s only four posts. Sorry about that stick up your ass.

I mean...preplanned or not the post is accurate.
